In a time of distancing – through polarizing debates online and physical social distancing – let’s take a moment to focus on what we do share. Our Common Destiny is launching a new social media campaign,“DifferentButSame” (in Hebrew, “מחוברים בערך”), to create a chain of people with different opinions and perceptions who are connected to each other in common values.
Want to participate?
Here’s how you can participate: share a photo of someone you don’t always agree with on social media and tag them. Share how you different and the values you have in common. Challenge your friend to do the same and use the hashtag #DifferentButSame.
“DifferentButSame” will take place as Jews from around the world mark two occasions that couldn’t be any more different from each other but remind us of the importance of Jewish unity: Tisha B’Av, when we mourn the destruction of the Temple and the hatred that inspired it, and Tu B’Av, when we celebrate Jewish love. The campaign starts July 28 ahead of Tisha B’Av (July 29-30) and runs through Tu B’Av (Aug. 5).
